Where are you located?

On the Washington Circuit at Summit Point Motorsports Park, Summit Point, WV.
note: There are 2 gates (Main and Shenandoah), please call 304.596.0576 if both gates appear closed during open hours.

How does this work?

SPK creates “Arrive and Drive Excitement” by providing everything you need. (Kart, Helmet, Driving Suit, safety briefing, and an outdoor race track). You provide photo ID, Closed toe shoes, and $25. Simple.

Can I bring my own gear ?

Yes, you must have a full face helmet and either a driving suit or jacket/ pants similar to jeans, leather.

What are your hours?

Spring hours are Friday to Sunday, Summer hours will include Tuesday-Sunday (please check our website). Are you able to view our calendar online? Hours for the week can be checked by calling SPK Reception 304.596.0576.

Are you considering a group outing? Call 540.878.7889 for bookings.

How Long is it?

The course is ½ mile with 11 turns. Time on course is sold in 'sessions' of 11 minutes. Purchase a membership and your first session is free.

Do you have to be a member?

No, but the best deal is to become a member. Non-members can only pay full price for Karting and do not have access to special events.
Non-members pay $25 per session. Members can pay as little as $10 when buying in bulk.
Members are also welcome to join our Karting league with no experience necessary.

Membership?

SPK membership is the best way to start. For $40 you get an SPK card, a t-shirt, one karting credit, and discount pricing for a full year. Credits never expire. Many programs at SPK require membership. Special packages also require Membership.

What is a credit?

Members purchase 'credits' to use for karting. One credit is good for one “session” of Karting. Credit cost varies from $23 to as little as $10 each when purchased in bulk. Much like shopping at Costco or other wholesale stores.
Note: Credits NEVER expire.

Are credits transferable to other members?

A: No. But, we are considering a “family” package, but do not have details yet.

Do you offer all day Karting?

Yes. We offer 'KTP' ( Kart 'Til you Puke ). This is nearly unlimited Karting for $120. Membership is required. This is available during Arrive and Drive hours. This program is subject to change and availability. This is available for purchase as a gift and is very popular.

I want to give Karting as a gift, can I purchase this ahead of time?

YES. All SPK items are available to purchase ahead of time or as a gift. A simple Gift Certificate can be sent to you via USPS mail or email, or picked up at our office. The best option is to purchase a Membership with additional credits that can be used any time we are open.
Gift certificate options:

  • Mini GP $75 (non member price)
  • Mini GP for members $60
  • Membership $40
  • Youth School.
  • Additional credits for a current or new member.
  • SPK Endurance series team entry (price varies by event length)

Note: Credits purchased as a gift can be applied to a membership instantly. For an additional $10 a membership package can be boxed and mailed out to you or the recipient. Please allow a week to 10 days for delivery to some locations.

Info needed to send membership gift:

  • New Member's name
  • Racer name (Nic-name if they have one) We use first/last name if not provided.
  • DOB (date of birth)
  • Phone number
  • Complete mailing address (if any thing is ever left behind, we can contact you)
  • Email address (sales, promos and freebies to your inbox).
  • Emergency contact (name/phone number).
  • T-Shirt size
  • Where are we shipping to? name/address.

I want to Race!

For Youth drivers we have the SPK Youth League (see below). For Adults:

  • SPK Championship League
  • SPK Endurance Series

How does your League work?

A: Everyone is welcome to the SPK League. Membership is required. All 'rounds' are made up of 6 events. League event is about 2 ½ hours. Arrive early and get extra karting during Arrive and Drive time. Each event date:

  • All drivers 'weigh in' (weight is added to kart to balance performance)
  • 4 sessions (Warm-up/Qualifier and 3 heat races.)
  • Starts are inverted (winner of previous heat starts last, then 2nd, and so on to last place at front)
  • It is not necessary to attend all dates, but it is encouraged.
  • Final points are based upon best finishes, lowest 3 are dropped.
  • Cost is 3 member credits.
  • Weeknight league starts in July. (tba)

Can I get information about the Endurance series?

The SPK Endurance series or a private enduro? SPK has a Championship Endurance Series held over multiple dates in 2010. Race length varies from date to date. A Team of drivers pay a single entry fee for a spot in one race date. Teams earn points based on the distance covered in each event. At the end of the season the team covering the most total distance will be the Champions.
SPK will provide gear if needed.

I want to bring out a group, how many do I need?

Groups of any size are welcome from 1 to 1,000. We offer private rentals and group reservations.

  • Rentals are 100% private and require event deposit.
  • Reservations for group Karting takes place during Arrive and Drive hours.
  • Reservations outside normal hours require a minimum 15 participants.
  • Reservations are typically for a “Mini GP” but open Karting is also available.

I want to have a party, how do I set this up?

SPK can host your birthday party, bachelor party, corporate team building excersize, or company picnic.

  • Youth parties are available and can include a youth school by request.
  • SPK is a popular choice for racing action in a bachelor party.
  • Our high intensity environment is perfect for corporate team building.
  • With plenty of space for a picnic, SPK can provide some fun for your outing.
  • Tent rental, tables, chairs, and catering arrangements available as well.

Do I have to bring my own kart?

SPK provides the Kart and the gear for a true arrive and drive experience. You only need photo ID, closed toe shoes and Cash or credit card for payment.
Arrive, pay, kart. Simple.

I want to bring my own kart.

SPK has a test-n-tune program for racers looking to dial in their karts. A reservation is needed.
Cost is $150/driver per day. This is only available during Arrive and Drive hours.
Testing takes place when ever there is a lull in Arrive and Drive sessions. This could be once per hour or more. The best option is to come on a slow day for more time.

SPK Youth FAQ

What are the age limits for kids?

16 and up are classed as adults, under 16 is 'Youth'.
Anyone under 16 must go through a Karting School either with SPK or AllsportsGP.
Youth participants will ride our Youth Kart, in a youth only session.
Note: Participants Age 15 are eligible to enter adult sessions and use the RX7.
We must see proof of age, we reserve the right to pull a Youth participant out of an adult session for their safety.

Is a racing suit required, if so, do you supply them?

A: Yes, and no we do not supply one at this time for youth participants.
If a Youth participant can fit into an adult suit, they are welcome to use it.
A jacket, pants and gloves are also acceptable.
Something similar to jean jacket and pants simply for abrasion protection.
SPK does have a limited supply of neck brace/chest protectors (first come first served)

What time is check-in for schools and league events?

Typically a minimum of 30 minutes prior to an event.
ex: For a 10am start, please arrive at 9:30am.

Do I have to sign my kid up for the League?

A: No, you can sign up the morning of the league. We highly recommend purchasing enough Karting credits to cover entry to each league date as this will provide the least cost.

What time does racing start?

A: For a 10am event, the on track activities will start at 10am. The racing portion starts after warm ups (practice/qualifying). No exact green flag time.
